The house has some hostas bordered by a board so there was some landscaping going on there. The porch has some potted plants which makes me wonder which one of the women loved houseplants and gardening. The little boy isn't wearing shoes and has grimy knees! Isn't that like a little boy? Since little G.C. was born in 1914 and he looks like he would be about 8-9 years old then this would date the picture to the early to mid 1920's.
Gamewell Calhoun Harris (DOB: 5/26/1853 in Union County, SC; DOD: 10/21/1933 in Union County, SC) was a son of Fleming Matthew "F.M." or "Mattie" Harris and Augusta Ann Harris. Gamewell married Sarah "Sallie" Clementine Brakefield (DOB: 4/18/1860 in Union County or Chester County or York County, SC; DOD: 3/6/1930 in Union County, SC) on 7/20/1876 in Union County, SC. I haven't pursued the Brakefields as of yet so I'm not sure where she was born. I've seen different records that show Union, Chester or York County.
Gamewell and Sarah lived on the family farm with Mattie and Augusta Ann in the 1880 Census.

Gamewell inherited the Harris family farm when his parents died. As for the old home place, it was the home of Fleming Matthewand Augusta Ann Harris and is where they raised their family. It went to Gamewell when Augusta Ann died. He sold to an Adams who sold it to Hornes. The land is located on the highway to Adamsburg.
